Abdullswamad Nassir

Governor of Mombasa County, Kenya

Abdullswamad Nassir is the second Governor of the County Government of Mombasa, Kenya. He was elected to this seat in August 2022, which saw him transition from the role he held as Member of Parliament for Mvita Constituency. There, he served as Chairman of the Public Investments Committee. Prior to this, the astute entrepreneur founded and successfully operated Radio Rahma and served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) until the year 2013. The Governor is deeply passionate about an accountable and people centered government. He has been at the forefront of defending the rights and resources of not just the people of Mombasa, but the Coast at large because of his deep passion for the region’s potential to achieve greatness. It is his mission to build on the gains made, learn from the shortcomings of the past, and partner with the residents, in making a deliberate leap into a new beginning for Mombasa.

The core of H.E Nassir’s agenda is to bring a new way of doing things in Mombasa through public participation – a government by the people and for the people; a government that the public can trust because it is their government. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Inoorero University and is pursuing a Master’s degree in the same field at the Mt. Kenya University.
