Adama Sarr

Mayor of Keur Massar Nord, Dakar

Adama Sarr was elected as Mayor of Keur Massar Nord, Dakar, in January 2022. A Land Surveyor Engineer by profession, he worked in the Senegal National Cadastral Office as a Land Mediator. With a keen interest and expertise in geographic information systems, land management and land disputes, Sarr played a pivotal role as a consultant for the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN), a branch of the UN-HABITAT that is committed to increasing access to land and tenure security for all, with a particular focus on the poor, women and youth. This experience in mediation among communities and different stakeholders has been worthwhile during his tenure. He has been actively promoting an active citizenry in the Senegalese capital.

One of the mayor’s priorities has been establishing strategic relationships with public and private stakeholders to promote sustainable development, cultural exchange, and local capacity building. Among others, he has signed partnerships with the City of Ksar El Kebir (Kingdom of Morocco) and the City of Margny-lès-Compiègne (France) that will promote initiatives that are beneficial to the respective communities. Mayor Sarr holds a PhD in Geomatics Sciences from Université Laval, Canada. He is a board member of African Real Estate Society (AfRES) and the Fédération des Géomètres Francophones (FGF).
