Dada Morero

Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, South Africa

Sello Enoch Dada Morero has served as the Executive Mayor of Johannesburg since his election in August 2024. Prior to assuming this role, he was the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Finance. He is also the regional chairperson of the African National Congress (ANC) in Johannesburg. With a career spanning public service, political leadership, and community advocacy, Morero envisions Johannesburg as a city of opportunity and excellence—a global leader in innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity. His administration is focused on delivering a bold, transformative agenda underpinned by Building Financial Resilience; Ending Load-Shedding and Promoting Green Energy; Transforming Urban Spaces, and Driving Economic Growth and Innovation. In 2025, Johannesburg will host the U20 Summit under Mayor Morero’s leadership, where global city leaders will collaborate on urban challenges and share innovative solutions. Additionally, he currently serves as the President of the Global Fund for Cities Development (FMDV), further demonstrating his dedication to international cooperation and urban development.

He began his professional journey at the South African Secret Service before joining the Department of Home Affairs, where he worked on combating corruption and organized crime. In 2004, he joined the City of Johannesburg, serving in the office of then-MMC for Finance, Parks Tau, and later as Director of Customer Centres and Marketing.

Morero holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Management from Wits Business School and a Master’s degree from Regenesys Business School. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Policy Development from the University of London.
