Jones Kalyati
Mayor of the city of Ndola, Zambia
Jones Kalyati is the Mayor of the City of Ndola, the administration centre of the Copperbelt Province in Zambia. His term of office is from 2021 to 2026. He is a student of Political Science and International Relations and a politician belonging to the Patriotic Front, the current biggest opposition political party in Zambia. With years of experience as a political leader, he joined politics when he was very young and became youth leader, district secretary, provincial youth secretary and is the current Ndola District Chairperson for his party. He also served as one of the youngest Ward Councilors in the Ndola City Council at the time when he represented Fibobe Ward in 2006 to 2011. Jones Kalyati has successfully sustained a 15-year-old business in entertainment, food, beverages and general supplying, employing a number of Ndola residents. Before venturing into his own business, he worked as manager for an entertainment and hospitality business.
He has also worked as a teacher. As a well known member of the community, he has assumed leadership roles in various community circles such as in business and the Church. In his years of service as Mayor, Councilor, business owner, active community participant, politician and teacher, his biggest aims are to enhance food security and agriculture among residents, promote recycling and economically empower Ndola residents with a passion for market traders in particular.
