Madam Minister Governor of the Autonomous District of Lakes, Côte d’Ivoire

Dr Raymonde Goudou Coffie is the Minister Governor of the Autonomous District of the Lakes, Côte d’Ivoire. She was a member of the Ivorian national government from 2011 to 2021, and has held positions including Minister of Family, Women and Children, Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, and Minister for the Modernisation of Administration and Public Service Innovation. She was also a municipal councillor from 2013 to 2018. During the Ebola crisis which raged throughout West Africa, and despite the proximity to other affected countries, she managed to spare Côte d’Ivoire from the pandemic, eradicate poliomyelitis, and fostered a better rate of attendance of public and private health structures. She was a member of the Board of Directors of “ROLL-BACK MALARIA” and of the GAVI alliance for vaccines, two structures of the United Nations.

She has also participated in the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program since 2014, and was awarded the Medal of Honor in Boston. An activist for women’s rights, Dr Goudou Coffie is one of the pioneers who very early on invested in the promotion of women to decision-making positions at the political, economic, social, and cultural levels. She has also received numerous national and international awards. Since June 2021 she has been the first and only woman appointed Minister Governor in Côte d’Ivoire.
