Siyad Abdi Ahmed proudly serves as Mayor of Jigjiga, Ethiopia. His commitment to transforming the city is evident through a blend of strategic leadership and active community engagement. From his early career at Save the Rural Society to his current mayoral role, Mayor Siyad has consistently demonstrated a passion for positive change. Jigjiga, the largest city and capital of the Somali Regional State, is witnessing rapid growth under Mayor Siyad’s leadership. With aspirations to become the commercial hub and business corridor of eastern Ethiopia.
Mayor Siyad Abdi Ahmed holds a B.Sc. in Hydraulic and Water Engineering from Jigjiga University and a Master’s Degree in Irrigation and Drainage Engineering from Haramaya University. His educational background reflects his dedication to fields crucial for the sustainable development of Jigjiga. Mayor Siyad served as the General Manager at Save the Rural Society from February 1998 to August 1999. Following this, he played a crucial role in water supply as part of the SRS Water Bureau from September 1999 to August 2022.
Since August 2022, Mayor Siyad Abdi Ahmed has been at the helm of Jigjiga City as its Mayor, driving positive change and development initiatives. With a focus on technical expertise and community-driven governance, Mayor Siyad’s strategic vision and hands-on leadership style make him an influential figure in the growth and development of Jigjiga, Ethiopia.
