Communications Officer
AMALI / African Centre for Cities
Tselane Moiloa joined the African Centre for Cities as a Communications Officer in March 2024. After completing her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at Rhodes University, she honed her story-telling craft as a community media journalist in Bloemfontein, where she was drawn to human-interest stories. She later joined Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality as Assistant Communications Officer, where she worked across four mayors and administrative teams.
She has over 10 years’ worth of experience in local government communications, where she refined her skills to ‘simplify the technical and make it accessible for the public’. Her role includes, but is not limited to, content creation, brand management, social media management and event planning and coordination. Having worked with a variety of public and private stakeholders across sectors, she is well versed in developing and implementing targeted communication strategies.
Tselane also holds a Bachelor of Spatial Planning (Hons) and Master of Urban and Regional Planning, both from the University of Free State. She believes in communications as a crucial tool in urban planning for an engaged and active citizenry.
