Omary Said Kumbilamoto

Lord Mayor of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Mr Omary Said Kumbilamoto is the Lord Mayor of Dar es Salaam City in The United Republic of Tanzania and a member of the ruling political party, known as Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM). His mayoral roles began when he was elected as Deputy Mayor of the Ilala Municipal Council in 2016. In 2020, while a member of CCM, he was elected as a Vingunguti Ward Councillor and Mayor of Ilala Municipal Council. His Dar es Salaam city mayoral role began following dissolution of the former Dar es Salaam City Council, which led to the promotion of Ilala Municipal Council as the new City Council. Mayor Kumbilamoto has been a key leader in Dar es Salaam, spearheading environmental conservation and visible on the frontline of combating the impact of climate change. He is motivated by contextualisation and utilisation of potential benefits underlined between national and international agendas and frameworks for a clean and safe city.

Mayor Hailu holds a BA in Mathematics from Ethiopia’s Mekelle University and a Master’s in International Economics from China’s University of International Business and Economics.
