Mayor Etagegn H. Mariam Sisay is an experienced public development leader currently serving as the Mayor of Wolaita Sodo City, one of the rapidly growing urban centers in Southern Ethiopia National Regional State. She has built a strong career in public administration, socio-economic planning, and local governance through years of service at town, zonal, and regional government levels. She holds a Master’s degree in Socio-Economic Development and Planning from Wolaita Sodo University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Arba Minch University. Her academic training has equipped her with strong policy, planning, and institutional management skills relevant to urban development and service delivery. Throughout her career, Mayor Etagegn has held several senior leadership positions, including Deputy Mayor of Wolaita Sodo City, Vice Head of the South Ethiopia NRS Public Service, Vice Head of the Wolaita Zone Prosperity Party, and Head of key sector offices such as Trade and Market Development, Culture and Tourism, Cooperative Affairs, and Women and Children Affairs. These roles have strengthened her experience in economic development, social inclusion, gender-responsive leadership, and community engagement.
