Hon. Kamal Abdulsatar Haji was elected as the Mayor of Zanzibar City in November 2025 and is recognised for his visionary leadership and strong commitment to sustainable urban development. Prior to assuming office, he was a prominent businessman and a well-known sponsor of social and sports initiatives. Before joining public leadership, he built extensive experience in the business sector, contributing to economic growth, job creation and community development. He has actively supported social welfare programs, community development initiatives and sports, particularly for youth empowerment. Since assuming office, Mayor Abdulsatar has led Zanzibar City Council with a strong focus on good governance, accountability, citizen participation and environmental cleanliness. His vision is to build Zanzibar City into a clean, safe and competitive city that preserves its historical heritage while embracing sustainable development and international cooperation. Mayor Abdulsatar Haji is a leader who blends business expertise, social commitment and modern urban leadership for the benefit of Zanzibar City, Zanzibar Islands and Tanzania at large.
