The African Mayoral Leadership Initiative (AMALI) enthusiastically welcomes Jennifer Comalie as the new AMALI Programme Director.
Jennifer brings more than 25 years of experience in strategy development, financial management, and urban transformation across the public and private sectors. Prior to joining AMALI, she served as Strategic Executive for Finance and Customer Service at the City of Windhoek, Namibia, where she played a key role in ensuring financial stability and mobilizing financing for capital projects.
AMALI Co-Chairs Edgar Pieterse and Jamie Cooper anticipate that Jennifer’s practical experience on the frontlines of city governance will provide much additionality to the AMALI programme as it endeavours to continually adapt in order to be most relevant to participating mayors and governors. “I am certain she will elevate a quality offering into an excellent one that will truly serve the African continent given how central city leadership is for attaining economic growth and social cohesion at this critical time,” said Pieterse.
Now in its fourth year, AMALI continues to expand its work with African mayors and governors working toward transformational change across their cities. Since its launch, more than 60 mayors and governors from across Africa’s leading cities have participated in AMALI, creating a growing network of leaders working to advance ambitious initiatives that improve the lives of urban residents.
Jennifer joins AMALI as the programme introduces a new Resourcing Track to expand the tools available to participating city leaders. The track will help city leaders identify and unlock the resources needed to advance their legacy goals. Her experience in financial management and mobilizing financing for major capital projects will be invaluable as AMALI introduces this new offering.
We look forward to Jennifer’s leadership of the AMALI programme.
Meet the new AMALI Programme Director.
